It is a great honour and privilege to serve The Jute Corporation of India Limited (JCI), a premier Public Sector Undertaking under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. JCI plays a vital role in protecting the interests of jute farmers through effective implementation of Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations and ensuring stability and growth in the jute sector.
Our primary commitment is to the welfare of farmers and the sustainable development of the jute economy. By ensuring fair and remunerative prices and maintaining a transparent and efficient procurement system, JCI supports farmers and strengthens their confidence. Our efforts also contribute significantly to rural livelihoods and the growth of the domestic jute industry.
JCI is continuously working to modernize its systems by adopting digital technology and improved management practices. With the support of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), geo-mapping of jute-growing areas has been introduced to improve planning, monitoring, and transparency. The Jute Passbook system has also been implemented to ensure proper identification of farmers and timely delivery of MSP benefits.
In addition to procurement operations, JCI is promoting diversified and eco-friendly jute products such as Jute Geotextiles and Jute Agrotextiles. Jute Geotextiles are used in infrastructure development, soil conservation, and environmental protection, while Jute Agrotextiles support agricultural activities such as soil moisture conservation, mulching, and crop protection. These initiatives help increase the value of jute, promote sustainable practices, and create greater opportunities for farmers and the industry.
JCI remains committed to strengthening its institutional capabilities, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring transparency in all its activities. With the continued support of our employees, stakeholders, and the Government of India, I am confident that JCI will continue to achieve new milestones and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic and social development.
Let us move forward together with dedication, integrity, and a shared vision to empower farmers and build a strong, sustainable, and future-ready jute sector.
